In T or E carrier lines, TDM is used. Any Physical cabling media is a mix of UTP , STP, Coaxial cable, fibre optics, and microwave links.
T1 and T3 leased lines are very expensive and sometimes a fractional line is used. Even so, they are not suitable for residential users especially there are many other high speed options are available.
