What is Tarball Distribution


(Basically, a tar ball is a group of files compressed into a single file. The group of files are either compiled and installed or simply installed onto a new system once all the package pre-requisites are met. To make installing and removing programs and package easier, many distributions use an alternate format that automatically installed pre-requisites, along with the needed package for developer.
